On this day back in 1995, the Indiana Jones Adventure attraction fully opened to the public and today celebrates

its  25th Anniversary at Disneyland. In honor of this milestone, I present to you my favorite collectibles honoring this timeless and amazing attraction!

Beginning with my absolute favorite and rarest, most highly coveted collectible - here is a replica of the Temple of the Forbidden Eye that was created for the 10 year anniversary back in 2005.  Only 300 of these were made and are mostly in the hands of collectors w...

For those of you that may be unaware, the TIL acronym when seen on the World Wide Web stands for “Today I Learned” and is used for interesting facts that are first learned by someone and may also be a “first” for many other individuals with shared interests and perhaps should have been known sooner as it is often widely available information.  There is often an element of surprise to the fact or possibly even a “duh” moment. Today I share with you three facts originating from the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, Florida, that have elements o...

Sixty years ago today, the Submarine Voyage opened at Disneyland! On June 6th, 1959 we began daring explorations under the sea at Disneyland.  The official dedication would not take place for a few more days on June 14.  In honor of this milestone I present to you an extremely rare floaty pencil - yes pencil, not pen -  souvenir that is likely as old as the attraction!  Complete with mermaid and shark encounter!  This is another amazing example of quality souvenirs found within the Walt Disney Productions era.  The...

The Walt Disney Productions era of merchandise is an absolute treasure trove of unique and wonderful items teeming with nostalgia.  I recently struck gold with a unique find on eBay of one such item: an Esprit 2000 vintage souvenir lighter made in West Germany that is straight out of the 1950's!  What makes this find even more unique is that it is almost brand new in it's original box complete with Disneyland price tag on the back indicating a steep price of  $2.50 plus tax bringing the total cost to a whopping $2.60! Actually this is pretty re...

This is my own design and creation for personal use.  I wanted a table lamp that provided a similar ambiance to what is experienced in Adventureland at Disneyland.  The tiki torch flame effect LED bulb and bamboo structure lamp I purchased provided just the starting point I needed.  I then created my own abstract art images of iconic attractions in Adventureland. The front facing panel has the Adventureland entrance sign over the “Adventurers Club” logo of which I have always been a fan. While originally a club within Pleasure Island at Downtow...

Harry Anderson.  Gone too soon. Rest in peace.

A majority of people remember Harry Anderson as the hilarious judge in the hit comedy TV series Night Court from the mid-eighties to early nineties.  I was too young at this time and don’t recall watching too many episodes of this show, and even if I did, I am sure the subject matter was at an adult level that was lost on me.  Harry Anderson to me, for the decade of the eighties, was the face of Disney’s shining moments, second to only the visage of Michael Eisner himself who played host to the majo...

Welp, today is Christmas.  We made it!  Through all the stress, hustle, and bustle the day is finally here!  Hopefully everyone can now breathe a sigh of relief and spend the rest of the day with those nearest and dearest to our hearts.  For Christmas, there is a particular Disney movie that sits at the top of my list of favorites - Mickey’s Christmas Carol.  This is a must watch year in and year out.  It holds such a special place in my heart that I have managed to procure some unique collectibles over the years from this beloved Disney classi...

December 24, 2017

Just over a week ago on Friday, December 15th, D23

hosted an event they called “A Force-Filled Evening on the Lot” held at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, CA.  This event was in celebration of the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi in theaters opening weekend, and included a viewing of the film in an exclusive production screening theater never before opened to the public called the Frank G. Wells theater.  This provided attendees the opportunity to watch the blockbuster in an amazingly intimate setting - the theater seating a mere 122 peo...

Today in nostalgic Disney history, Mary Poppins floated into theaters and into the hearts of all who have seen this endearing film.

In honor of the film’s premiere I present to you a piece from my own collection that dates back to that very same

year.  This ceramic figurine of the whimsical nanny herself is complete with parrot handle umbrella and even has the original retail tags! On the bottom is a hand scripted copyright that says: MCMLXIV Walt Disney Productions.  The copyright letters may appear to some as gibberish but in actuality it is t...

While we are still in August, retail establishments are

already putting out their seasonal selections for this year’s Halloween.  Today’s Mug of the Day is not an officially licensed Disney product, however, it certainly evokes a great deal of Disney nostalgia if you are a fan of the movie Hocus Pocus.  With a quirky feel similar to that of the movie’s dialog also demonstrated in the title of this entry (which is a direct quote from the movie), this mug says “Hocus Pocus I Need Coffee to Focus.”  Humor, perhaps, is the intent here, however this...
